In recent months, Instagram has received National attention for cracking down on legal, compliant cannabis social media handles. In a world where cannabis entrepreneurs have legally limited advertising options, what is a brand to do?!
In a world where cannabis companies can’t always access print or digital advertising, the recent Instagram crackdown on marijuana-centric handles exposes an ultimate frustration plaguing the cannabis industry. Despite functioning within all legal bounds locally, we’re continually limited and cut off from communicating directly with the consumers and fans we’ve worked tirelessly to earn. In the case of Instagram, many have suggested a boycott of the unwelcoming platform BUT this only allows Instagram to ‘win’ in censoring marijuana content. Instead, we choose to fight, rebuild and take back the National audience we earned organically!
